The Octopus Energy Group is a British company. The New Zealand business, Octopus Energy NZ, established in 2020, is part of an international network that operates across multiple countries including Japan (JV with Tokyo Gas), Australia, the US and several European markets.
In an absorbing presentation, Margaret outlined the technology-driven approach that Octopus Energy brings to the New Zealand’s electricity market using smart tariffs, data platforms and flexible pricing to help customers reduce costs and shift electricity use to off-peak times. The company is also helping accelerate the adoption of solar, home batteries and EV charging by creating pricing plans and digital tools to assist customers to optimise their electricity usage.
